On Wednesday, April 7, the Ontario Government announced a state of emergency and province-wide stay-at-home order to help stop the spread of COVID-19.
Effective Thursday, April 8, the stay-at-home order requires everyone to remain at home with exceptions for essential purposes, such as going to the grocery store or pharmacy, accessing health care services, or for essential work.
No further restrictions on physiotherapy practice have been announced to date. Physiotherapists and other regulated health professionals may continue to operate, consistent with current guidelines for regulated health professionals.
The Ministry of Health continues to encourage all health care professionals to offer virtual care and tele-rehabilitation as much as possible to help minimize in-person interactions. Consider virtual care as an option particularly if a person screens positive for exposure to the virus or is at risk of complications should they contract COVID-19. If you see patients in person, be sure to follow all infection prevention protocols including the use of appropriate
personal protective equipment (PPE).
We encourage everyone to take all of the necessary steps to keep their patients and themselves safe.
Sincerely,
